(Lahore News HD)- Lahore News has compiled brief history of NA-120 candidates. After disqualification of Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the seat got vacant for which this election has been held today.

Candidate from PML-N Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was born on 29 March, 1950 in a Kashmiri house of walled city of Lahore. After completion of early education, she graduated in Urdu Literature from Islamia College in 1972 while she got her masters degree from Punjab University. She also did PhD in Philosophy. She got married to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on 2nd April, 1971.

Nawaz Sharif for the very first time held the seat of Prime Minister on 6 November, 1990 and so Begum Kulsoom Nawaz became first lady. On 17 February, 1997, she became first lady for the 2nd time. Gen. (R) Pervaiz Musharraf took over the government of Nawaz Sharif on 12th October, 1999. During this time, Kulsoom Nawaz was the one to step in to handle PML-N in this difficult time and also approached court for the freedom of her husband from jail.

Kulsoom Nawaz became first lady for the 3rd time in June, 2013 but unfortunately lost this position on 28 July, 2017 due to disqualification of her husband. She also had to face great criticism while being nominated for NA-120 elections however results will reveal the impact on voters.

As far as PTI candidate Dr. Yasmin Rashid is concerned, she was born on 21st September, 1950 in a political house of Chakwal and got her early education from Neela Village. For further studies, she came to Lahore and studied at Forman Christian College. She did MBBS from Fatima Jinnah Medical College in 1978.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid served as President of Pakistan Medical Association Lahore, Chairperson Task Force Women Development, Chairperson Women Health Committee Social Welfare Department Punjab and held many other offices.

The political background of Yasmin Rashid made her enter into politics as her father-in-law Malik Ghulam Bani was a leader of PTI and also served as Education Minister during the reign of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He suggested Dr. Yasmin Rashid to be a part of PTI following which she resigned from government service in 2010 and joined party. She is now General Secretary of PTI.

The candidate of PPP Faisal Mir is a businessman, who was born of 14th August, 1966 and is son of famous journalist as well as writer Waris Mir.
